A Strong Core, A Strong You

Functional Training in Post Falls

So, here’s your day. Can you relate to any of these scenarios?

  • You’re a delivery driver and lift heavy boxes all day.
  • As a warehouse worker, you’re constantly bending, reaching, hauling, and lifting.
  • You’re a busy mom squatting to wipe up spills and lift heavy toddlers with cumbersome diaper bags.
  • In your role as a nurse or caregiver, you’re on your feet all day, with few breaks and little rest.

You may have never considered how all of these ordinary daily tasks affect your muscles and joints; that is, until you feel a backache or stiff shoulder.

We’ve all experienced the injury, strain, and fatigue caused by out-of-condition muscles, poor posture, or improper technique. The solution? Functional training at our Post Falls fitness center targets core muscles for greater strength, stability, endurance — and improved performance.

How It Works

Functional training employs various pieces of equipment for the workout, and your own body weight acts as resistance. Battle ropes, kettle bells, free weights, TRX machines, sleds — all help strengthen your core, improve stability and range of motion, and rev your heart rate for boosted metabolism.

Each activity focuses on specific muscles and joints (and a personal trainer can help you decide where to begin). Shoulders, arms, legs, and abs — all are core muscles being strengthened with each workout. An added bonus? You’ll have increased stamina and endurance with each workout achieved.

Proper body mechanics and posture are also key elements of functional training, ensuring muscles and joints are not injured, stressed, or fatigued due to improper positioning.

Think of functional training as fitness for every day. It’s a hard workout and you’ll sweat, but start with small goals and work towards improved overall fitness.
